Bold Reflection: Chasing Curiosities

Thoughts & Reflections

Consider jotting down a few notes, perhaps in a journal or notebook.

We've discussed incorporating some self-directed learning into the learning day and chasing curiosities is one way to accomplish that goal.

The recipe for chasing curiosities is included in last week's video and transcript, linked below. Here are some questions to consider:

  • What are your child's values, goals and interests?
  • What curiosities does your child ask about during the day?
  • How does your child spend free time?
  • Consider creating a consistent rhythm of the day that incorporates time for exploring curiosities.
  • What foundational knowledge might benefit your child initially? How will that knowledge or those skills be acquired?
  • Consider adding a 5-minute gratitude practice as a brain break or closing ritual.
  • Plan for novelty and  unpredictability. Where might your child find those in the day?
  • What is your child reading for fun right now?
  • How much sleep is your child getting each night?

Feel free to review last week's recording on chasing curiosities.
